How did you meet?
Matt and I attended George Washington University at the same time, but our paths barely crossed. We “officially” met when we spent the weekend in Fire Island with mutual friends in the summer of 2013. I was at his shore house and had an unfortunate accident where I broke my wrist. The following day Matt followed up with me to see how I was feeling, and subsequently sent me cupcakes as a get-well gift. He asked me out for drinks several weeks later to “see how I was doing,” which really turned into an interview to see if I was going to sue him for damages since his name was on the lease! 5 years and zero lawsuits later we were married!
Tell us about the proposal
Matt and I love traveling. We planned a trip to the Amalfi Coast the summer of 2016, and I had convinced myself he would not be proposing on the trip because I knew how scared Matt was of flying, let alone while carrying something so special as an engagement ring. Low and behold, he proposed at the highest point on the island of Capri with the most expansive view of the Amalfi Coast and Tyrrhenian Sea. It was the best surprise I could have asked for!
